Self Portrait Oil on Canvas 24”x30” 2025
Image 1-4: Progress photos. In the first three photos, you can easily see the under drawing and the way my painting process works. Breaking the image up into sections makes the individual details far more manageable. Since painting this portrait, I’ve begun taking a more simplistic/faster approach. It still allows for the layering process but helps the image come together quicker and more accurately by focusing first on the overall shapes and colors rather than trying to do everything at once — section by section.
Image 5-6: Here are two photos of the finished portrait in different locations and different lighting. As I finish a painting, I like to work on it in different locations and lighting to help grasp the way in which the painting will be seen in my customer’s home or wherever they intend to hang it.
Cost: $1000 (I didn’t pay myself for this portrait — it was more of an experiment/practice piece. The cost attributed to this painting is to show what a painting of this detail, size, and subject matter would cost).
