Emma P.Oil on Canvas 24”x30” 2025
Image 1-2: The first image shows the variety and creative freedom that I strive for during my reference photo sessions. We decided against the fur coat. I initially chose a full body composition, which I completed over the course of a month. After the initial painting’s completion, I decided to change the reference photo and composition entirely.
Image 3-4: These photos showcase a process photo of the final portrait and a close up shot of a finished section as I worked on finalizing the rest of the piece.
Image 5: The finished painting. This commission is a great example of my lack of pride when it comes to finishing a project — I have absolutely no problem starting over or pivoting completely at any stage of the portrait process. In this case, it was primarily my own taste that fueled a pivot, but that may not always be the case. This is why I believe transparency with my customers is important from start to finish.
